Book Overview

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the "claustrophobic spine-tingler" (People) One by One returns with an unputdownable mystery following a woman on the search for answers a decade after her friend's murder.

April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford.

Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends--Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily--during their first term. By the end of the year, April was dead.

Now, a decade later, Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, and the man convicted of killing April, former Oxford porter John Neville, has died in prison. Relieved to have finally put the past behind her, Hannah's world is rocked when a young journalist comes knocking and presents new evidence that Neville may have been innocent. As Hannah reconnects with old friends and delves deeper into the mystery of April's death, she realizes that the friends she thought she knew all have something to hide...including a murder.

"The Agatha Christie of our generation" (David Baldacci, #1 New York Times bestselling author) proves once again that she is "as ingenious and indefatigable as the Queen of Crime" (The Washington Post) with this propulsive murder mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Ruth Ware is awsome

My friend got me onto her books. I just love them. I have read all her books and look forward to reading more. This book was just so good the characters had me wanting more.

Death of a mean girl

I was surprised by the mixed reviews, since this -- in my opinion -- is one of Ware's best. I couldn't stand the wait and actually snuck a peak at the end of this gripping murder mystery. Karma served me well: The story boiled down to seemingly one perp ... but I didn't read the whole finale. And, guess what, it wasn't him!!! I noticed one odd thing in "It Girl": A professor living in what is basically a freshman dorm. Is this a British thing? Or just a creepy, weird thing?!

worse Ruth Ware book I have read

I finally quit reading this book, one chapter would be "before" and the next one "after" throughout the book, not for me.

Slow going

This was not my favorite Ruth Ware book. It was very slow to get into and didn't have the usual Ruth Ware suspense

College roomies who love to be the life of the party

Two girls end up rooming together… they are as different as night and day!! The story line takes you back and forth from modern day to college memories over 20 years ago. Missing pieces start falling together during an intense investigation that turns scary. A great who done it!!!

Thriller

This is a Psychological Thriller/Mystery Suspense. This book took me awhile to get into the story, and the characters took awhile to learn them. Once, I got into the story I could not put it down because I needed to know what really happened. This story is told in two storylines (After the Murder-present day and Before the Murder-College years). I did not guess the reveal. I really loved the ending of this book because I did not see it coming at all. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
