The Invisible Thread Weaves a Fascinating Quilt of Stories!

I bought this book for my daughter before she left for college. I wanted to give her a book that would represent Jewish women and show how she was connected, in her own way, to her heritage. I was fascinated by the women's stories, and could relate to many of them myself. I found that when women share their ideas, we learn a lot about the religion. I passed the book on to a Catholic friend of mine who also loved it. Highly recommended, great for gifts!
Very interesting survey of ordinary American Jewish women.

The Invisible Thread shows how diverse the Jewish community of women is and why such diversity is, in itself, a blessing. There is a non-judgmental but binding feeling of Judaism that permeates the short but interesting descriptions of the lives of very different Jewish women across the United States. I think every Jewish woman can relate to some of the women interviewed and also be surprised and/or shocked at others. The photography accompanying the biographical sketches is also noteworthy and personalizesf the biographies. This is easy and interesting reading for any woman interested in the current state of Judaism around the country. The book is not only for women; my husband found it interesting as well!
