Not a remake but still a formula (Australian style).

This is a simple plot. A control-freak husband is controlling a woman. She escapes. Little does she know that he is an optical genius. Everyone knows that her husband is dead (suicide). She knows differently. I will not go through the details as that is half of the fun.
If you are expecting H.G. Wells, you will be disappointed. This is pretty much the formula, and you can guess what is happening. However, it is fun to watch the actors and, occasionally, toss in a kibitz. Do not expect any more than just entertainment. Well, maybe a little blood and a shootout. Not a lot of potty mouth or gratuitous s-e-x. Many of the scenes are underlit; at least they are not dumb enough to use flashlights. It is a tad too PC. For those who think this is Hollywood, it is Australian (filming locations include "Headland House, Gerringong, New South Wales, Australia") and produced by Australians.
The voice-over by Leigh Whannell is targeted to the movie instead of someone talking about film history and ignoring the movie.
