The Invisible Hat

Holden is an extremely shy boy whose whole world is his big brother Matthew. However, Holden is starting preschool and must do it all alone. He finds it hard to make new friends and has never been away from his family for such a long period of time. So, on the first day of school his dad hangs his hat on Holden's head. The hat makes him invisible to everyone, but his teacher. After a few days he realizes the kids are not so scary. He then leaves his hat on the coat hook and has an amazing day, making new friends and joining in classroom activities.

The Invisible Hat is the perfect story for any child going off to school for the first time. It is imaginatively realistic, relatable and will appeal to parents as well as teachers, counselors or anyone working with young children. This is a true story with a little magical detail. My son used to be super shy. Heading off to school for the first time was a big deal. Thankfully, his teacher knew just what to say to make us all feel comfortable.
