It was one of those mornings when the mist hung low like a secret, curling and whispering through the streets of Eastbourne, a town known more for its lazy afternoons than mysterious affairs. But for Private Detective Alexander P., the world was never quiet for long. He was a man who drank his coffee black, his thoughts darker still, yet his heart was devoted to justice in all its quiet corners.

A drizzle hung over the cobbled streets of Northhaven, a town perched on the edge of cliffs where gulls screamed against the wind and the sea always looked like it was hiding secrets. Detective Alexander P., tall, silent, and sharp-eyed, walked through the mist with his coat collar turned up and a small letter clutched in his gloved hand. The letter had arrived two mornings ago, sealed in wax with no sender. The paper smelled faintly of jasmine, and the words had been written in trembling ink:

"Please find the bracelet. It holds the truth. - S."
