In 1908, Eugen Bleuler introduced the concept of schizophrenia, which replaced the existing term 'dementia praecox'. His work *Dementia praecox or the Group of Schizophrenias*, published three years later, attracted considerable criticism. This book deals with the early criticism of his theory of schizophrenia. The work was written as part of the interdisciplinary project "Schizophrenia: Reception, Shift in Meaning and Criticism of a Concept in the 20th Century" at the University Psychiatric Clinic in Zurich.
