The year: 1986. The place: San Francisco's Haight Ashbury. The cast: A pink-haired punk rocking painter, an ingenue, a mute homeless man (who according to the police was most likely inappropriately fed into the streets when Reagan had many institutions close their doors) and very genuine, albeit misguided attempts at bridging worlds, needs and the intrepid now of Mr. White. There is no tidy resolution or shining ribbon on a "lesson learned " gift box in my heart. This was just life dancing an experience that, to this very day, messily haunts the "what if?" corner of my mind.
