The biggest revision in ten years of the Bible of the business (Wall Street Journal). This essential reference for writers, librarians, students of modern literature, and readers worldwide was started... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I remember in a journalism class a professor said that you need to view the Writer's Market as a tool that is just as important as your pen or paper. This way you wouldn't just see it as a book you'd turn to occasionally, but as a resource that helped propel your career along. The International Directory of Little... is a very valuable tool in finding potential markets that you might normally overlook, or might never know about. It's a pool of markets that often are underutilized but are just as important for presenting your work to the public. Because this book is harder to find in public libraries, for the poor writer I'd suggest you buy this book for home reference and use the library to view the other Writer's Market books.

A Terrific Reference

The International Directory of Little Magazines and Small Presses is an indispensable reference for any serious writer who is interested in publishing his or her work. Listings for literary magazines include the name of the magazine, names of editors, and other useful information such as website URLs. Most importantly, each entry specifies the type of material the magazine's editors are looking for, and whether or not they accept simultaneous submissions from authors. I refer to this book frequently, and would feel lost without it. Well worth the investment.
Little Presses, Big Tome

This book is a nice 'little' reference with some unique features. For many publications, it lists the percentage of submissions that are published. Book publishers are often noted with the number of titles they anticipate printing in the next few years, as well as the size of the print runs.If you have some time on your hands and are planning on skimming rather than only using the index, individual entries are capped off with a brief list of subjects and genre. It's a helpful, though rather heavy book.
