The Insider is an interesting read. Revelations and events at the end you do see coming, but the main character Harry Marinez is a very intelligent and fun to read character. The only thing about her character with her having the male name Harry (short for Henrietta) and a male character having the female name Cameron does create a bit of confusion as to which is which at the beginning of the novel until your mind sort of gets used to it. It's a good read though and Harry Martinez it's one of the best female leads to be in a fiction novel in a long time. Basic plot of the Insider. Harry Martinez was a child hacker growing up in a loveless home. Her skills weren't confined to the computer side but also the manipulation of people themselves to give her the information she needed. Her father Sal (again with the opposite gender names what's going on in the author's mind) was jailed for insider trading and her mother wasn't much of one. At the age of 13 a bit of fun got her a visit from an IT security agent. Now as an adult she works for him, exposing the short falls in multinational companies who hire her employer to test their security. Her father wasn't alone in his crime, the mastermind was a secretive character known as The Prophet. The prophet has always got others such as Sal to take the risks and do the dirty work. The Prophet has decided that it's time to get his share of Sal's money which the police never found. With the bodies piling up of those who were involved with her father and failed attempts on her life, Harry knows she must use all her skills to find all the players who were involved and expose the Prophet's identity.
