A temporary teacher has been called to substitute a colleague on sick leave. When he takes over, he can't believe what is happening. The collapse of all teaching standards, the indolence, the mocking from his students and, worst of all, the pressure to assume everything should be that way gets at his nerves. Being a good teacher, he is told, doesn't depend on his deeds in class or on his methods but on filling out and presenting a number of documents.
