There has been much debate over whether Jesus was a real person. On the myth side are the supernatural acts and events such as a virgin birth, the miracles, the appearance of angels, being killed on a cross or similar device, arising from the dead, ascension into heaven, born on December 25th, etc. Some or all these things occur in the birth and lives of almost all messiahs. They are true of Mithra, Osiris, the Buddha, and others. Some have parallel lives. The mythical Buddha came out of the side of a virgin on December 25th, but the real-life Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, was born a prince to a very human mother. I am convinced that there were two of Jesus. The mystical one of the New Testament and a very human messiah. Ironically it is the illogical events that indicate that Jesus was a real person and also a mythical one. One is why would a woman travel about eighty miles when she is about eight and a half months pregnant to have a baby in a barn. This is also odd because of the Jewish fetish for cleanliness at that time. She also gave up having a midwife present. The excuse, having to register for a census, makes no sense because they would have had a large span of time to do this, if indeed there was a census. The excuse that they couldn't find room at an inn makes no sense either since it was almost mandatory that people would take travelers into their homes and Joseph would still have family and other relatives in Bethlehem. Very few people moved from their home towns and so there would be very few coming back. Mary and Joseph see one angel apiece and are believed. No angels appear after that. Why not? Herod the Great dies two years after they go to Egypt and yet they wait four more years before returning home. If the 'slaughter of the innocents' did occur, how did John the Baptist escape this as he was born virtually at the same time as Jesus. These events tell me that there was a real person involved as well as, like the buddha, a mythical one. A totally mythical Christ would have none of these problems in his story. Book one of "The Inner Dome of Heaven" gives a logical explanation of the birth and early life of Jesus. Book two will answer equally illogical events that will be shown to have logical and human causes. This will include such unusual things such as; why does Jesus die in two hours instead of the three or more days it would usually take? Why are his legs not broken when all other Crucifixion victims have theirs broken? Why is permission given to take the body down immediately when Roman law forbid the removal of bodies from a cross? Why does a divine personage sweat blood which would be an imperfection?
