Lovely start to a new series

I have enjoyed all of my adventures in Walker Beach but this inaugural book for the Barefoot Sisterhood series has to be my favorite so far. This new series is a spin-off from Walker Beach Romance series. And though it’s not necessary to read the previous series, reading them will definitely give you a better sense of the small tourist town and the people who make it so special. The book leans more toward clean women’s fiction than inspirational romance and so gracefully addresses the need for true forgiveness, second chances, and finding and being true to yourself. I loved Elise and her broken, humiliated voice looking for a sense of purpose. Her surprisingly dramatic journey made me weep tears of empathy as she battled low self-esteem and knee-jerk reaction to please everyone. Jenna and her determined spunk - despite the weight of depression, anxiety, and regret dragging her down - made her a lovable heroine. I can’t wait for the next book as the renovated Barefoot Refuge opens its doors and Quinn takes center stage.
