I read this book in one sitting, not only because it is just over a hundred pages, but also because the topic is covered in such interesting ways. No story was alike, but it was touching to see the truly universal power of Catholicism to reunite people with one common goal in Christ. I call this book "humane" because the testimonies are written genuinely and quite humbly. I call it "balanced" because it had a nice blend of intellectual and more 'existential' testimonies. On the intellectual side, Fr. Simon's, Fr. Friedman's, and Mr. Rich's testimonies are riveting. On the more emotional, existential side, Ms. Gordon's and Mr. and Mrs. Drogin's tales are very moving. Dr. Chervin's and Mr. Frankel's tales fall just in the middle, which is, as Chervin explains in her testimony, quite apt for true conversion. This book is much too small to count as anything more than a springboard for further study, if this topic interests you. Fortunately, it is equipped with some endnotes that direct the reader to such resources. Do try to read Chervin's later companion volume of testimonies, "Bread from Heaven", and check out the "Association of Hebrew Catholics" and the "Remnant of Israel" online for more!
Very good but not truly Jews

I enjoyed this a lot. It will help me in explaining to some of my Jewish friends about how Catholicism is Jewish in nature. I would even hand this to them maybe. However, the Jews in this book were mostly atheists and not practising Jews. That was somewhat of a dissapointment because the stories then became just like any other atheist conversion story. But in the end, it gets my approval.
