The Infinite Jeff - A Parable of Change: Part 1: Journey into Insight

By Will Holcomb

Book Overview

Gold Medal Winner, 2023 Global Book Awards.

A laid-off tech writer who can't find the meaning in life that others seem to accept so easily, a hitchhiker who won't explain himself, and 2,700 miles of highway.

Stanley Whitmore has been out of work for five months and out of answers for much longer. Religion never fit, science alone feels like too little, and some days he's sure life is a meaningless cosmic fluke. When a new job sends him on a cross-country drive, he reluctantly picks up a hitchhiker with a calming smile.

The man offers to pay for gas and buy lunch, then goes back to his book. At a desert intersection, he asks Stanley to test his brakes, hard, seconds before a motorcycle blows through at eighty miles an hour, inches in front of the car. Soon after, a stranger calls Stanley's phone asking for Jeff. Stanley doesn't know a Jeff, but his passenger holds out a hand for the phone. "It's for me. I'm Jeff."

Stanley has until Pennsylvania to decide whether Jeff is a lucky break, a lunatic, or the answer to the question he's been afraid to ask. What he finds is bigger than anything he was taught to believe.

Fiction for people who ask inconvenient questions... and don't want convenient answers.
