Francis H. Cook was one of Spokane, Washington's founding fathers. Although he was a man of many accomplishments, he has not received his due credit - until now. He started Spokane's first newspaper, built its first motorized streetcar line, developed the nucleus of what became Spokane's renowned Manito Park, and built the first road to the top of Mt. Spokane. He was not only a printer, editor and publisher, he was also president of Washington's territorial legislative body that created Spokane County in 1879, a builder, developer, inventor, surveyor, farmer and Spokane's greatest promoter in its early days. This book is a genealogical masterpiece that covers several generations of Francis and Laura Cook's ancestors and descendants, and provides a most interesting piece of Spokane's early history.
