Finest publication

Well-written accounting of a boy's adventures into becoming a man. It gives likely day to day circumstances encountered by someone in that position. The writer has described the characters brilliantly and has an eye for detail.

Best book ever!!

This is the best book I have ever read! It keeps and holds your interest without trying. The storyline just flows from here to there. I was done with the book without even realizing it.

The Indigo Knight

The Indigo Knight is a very good book. It paints vivid images of people and places without being wordy. This is an amazing feat, Mr. Heck gets across in a few sentences what many authors barely communicate in a few pages. It was great to ready a book that did not resemble The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Most fantasy books resemble it at least by having the evil side being a large, dark, magical thing with hordes of minions to release on the world. This view point, while entertaining, is far from realistic. Mr. Heck breaks away from this trend by having the evil side being made of people who are not unlike a bully that someone has to deal with. This makes the story more realistic than the standard fantasy and very enjoyable. I highly recomend this book.

The Indigo Knight

Ulgren is looking forward to the love and laughter of life, but instead is met with trials and tribulations. Upon returning home from years abroad training, Ulgren believes his life is set and that he will automatically step into his role. However, things have changed since his departure and that news had never reached him. People question who he really is. He has to compete in a tournament to get what is rightfully his, and even that doesn't turn out like you think it would. This book is hard to put down. You want to keep reading to find out what is happening next.

Indigo Knight a real page turner

Heck's first novel, The Indigo Knight, resembles L. Ron Hubbard's brand of fantasy with his hero's swashbuckling manner. The clear characterizations also drive this story of a young man named Ulgren who, when he faces the truth that he has returned from years of tutoring to a desolate manor he once called home, decides he must go after his father's land title from the king. The story takes on a flare when the land and title is being decided over a jousting tournament, and Ulgren enters it as a commoner, being that his noble status has been found to be in question. The detailing of the action scenes of jousting and of war fuel this novel, as does the ever-increasing touch of fantasy. It delivers not just a fast-paced punch, but also enchanting scenes that leaves you breathlessly awaiting the next book.
