The Indian Peoples Of Eastern America

James Axtell has done an admirable job of choosing eye-witness accounts written by some of the first Europeans to encounter the Natives of the New World. The accounts that were written in later centuries also provide valuable information. Mr. Axtell explains that, despite their cultural biases, these men were often very perceptive in their observations of peoples whose appearance and cultures were so foreign to them. I believe any serious student Of Native Americans would enjoy reading this book. Look for other books by this author.
