I’m not a huge reader but I love this book

I tend to dabble in reading on and off throughout the years and I just started a new knowledge based fixation on the Inca Civilization which opened me back up to another reading period. And THANK GOODNESS this is the book I read first! It’s typically hard for me to stay focused and continue reading without re reading the same sentence 4 times before being able to grasp what it said but with this book (I’m on page 60) that hasn’t happened once. It’s such a fun read and stays very close to the true facts of the Inca’s and how they lived. It’s exciting and so far, it’s telling the separate stories of a boy and girl character and the vastly different lives they’re living. I’m not sure that it will continue to switch back and forth for the whole book but even if it does, it won’t make a difference to me. Very exciting and leaves you wanting more!

An all-time favorite

I read this book seven years ago and still can't get it from my mind. It enriched my understanding of the Inca culture at its height and through its demise. I delighted as never before in a visit to NYC's Metropolitan Museum as I found Incan artifacts like those used by the characters in the book. THE INCAS is lengthy but a classic "I wish it would never end" tale. I have since searched for the other books in Peters' series and have had no luck. Anybody have any ideas???? I've tried to locate Mr. Peters. If you read this, please tell me how I can read more of your work. It is so well researched and written. Congratulations!

Remarcable

This is a book that really will transport you to the ancient world of the Incas. Mr. Peters has a unique talent to take you away and Incas is no exception. Charismatic characters, an interesting plot, lots of action and a panoramic view of the Pre-Columbian World makes this book an experience not to be easily forgotten.

This Is A Forgotten Treasure !

Although I had to work myself through the first few chapters (which is always the case with long novels, until the story gains momentum), after that, I was wishing I would not have to put this book down for even a moment. I kept reading and reading till my eyes hurt, unable to wait to find out what was going to happen next. This is a wonderful saga of true friendship, loyalty, shared hardships, and love, so touching that one feels part of it. It is set infront of an interesting and catching historical background. The author describes the World of the Incas so vividly and with so much knowledge, that one feels right amidst them while reading this book. When I went out to buy it for myself, I could not believe to hear that it was no longer in print. This should have become another "Gone With The Wind" or "Shogun" ! How can a wonderful saga like this be so underappreciated and get such an unfavourable review ??

This is a long read but an excellent book.

The historical novel format of The Incas alows the author to present the full flavor of life in the Inca empire. That presentation is accurate to the extent that we can discern it from the present. Obviously extensive research and careful evaluation of many sources was involved. Although it is a long read, I found it very worthwhile.

Wish he wrote more often

I absoloutely LOVED this book, as well as everything else Mr. Peters has written on Pre-Columbian civilizations. The man has obviously done his research. They take you back to wonderfully rich, complex civilizations. I really felt that I was transported back to these little known cultures. My only regret is that he has not written anything in years!
