The Impossible Artifact: A Lillian Price Novel

By Donna Niemi

The Impossible Artifact
Book One of the Traces of History Series

History is rarely rewritten. It is uncovered.

When a fragment of finely carved Carrara marble is discovered beneath the ruins of a remote Irish monastery, expert in ancient inscriptions, Dr. Lillian Price expects to translate another forgotten inscription.

Instead, she uncovers the beginning of an extraordinary mystery.

The fragment bears the marks of an official Roman commission, yet it was found hundreds of miles from where it should have been. As additional evidence emerges, what first appeared to be an isolated discovery begins to reveal connections stretching across centuries.

Joined by her inquisitive young assistant, Greer, archaeologist Dr. Arthur Bennett, and master marble craftsman Marco Bellandi, Lillian follows the evidence from the windswept coast of Ireland to the marble quarries of Carrara, Italy. Ancient inscriptions, forgotten ledgers, and long-overlooked records gradually reveal that the greatest discoveries are seldom made all at once-they emerge one fragment at a time.

But every answer raises another question.

And some mysteries have waited nearly two thousand years for someone willing to look beyond what history thought it already knew.

Rich in archaeology, history, friendship, and the careful pursuit of truth, The Impossible Artifact is the opening novel in the Traces of History series; a thoughtful archeological mystery for readers who enjoy intelligent puzzles, memorable characters, and journeys into the forgotten corners of the ancient world.

Perfect for readers who enjoy archaeological mysteries, historical fiction, and intelligent adventures rooted in real history.
