(Official Apex Reviews Rating: 3.5 Stars) Samantha always felt that she was different, but she also felt that she could never live up to her parents' potential. So, when she steps in front of a car and is suddenly killed by a young couple, she begins to have conversations with God. The couple that hit Sam is more concerned about what the accident means to them than the young girl they killed, and when the couple gives birth to Lily - who is born deaf - it leads them to be very protective. Meanwhile, Samantha gets to watch as Lily matures and makes her way to college, eventually falling in love with a professor of hers. In The Imperfect Daughter, Sally O. Lee does a spectacular job depicting the conversations between Sam and God. The reader gets to see how Sam, on the outside looking in on the family that caused her demise, longs to be on Earth, and her wish to have connected better with her family and friends while alive is heart-wrenching. With a plot that's easy to follow and truly pulls at the heart strings, The Imperfect Daughter is a very enjoyable story for readers of any age. Brooke Carleton Apex Reviews
