A great book all around. The pages kept turning. A real find as far as books go. I felt like I was in the Middle East again. (I used to live there a while back. Everything is authentic. I'm not sure about Islam as its portrayed, but this is the type of book you want to read again. I'm waiting for the sequel.

I bought "the Imam" by Havel at B+N in West Paterson, N.J.I have been interested in religion lately after reading someNietze and Hawthorne and attending a course on religion. So I began "The Imam" and couldn't put it down.It is controversial and dark and light. It enlightened me on some issues on religionHavel has an intriguing existentialist component to his writing
Overall, very good

I didn't think that the book stereotyped Muslims at all. Actually it went beyond the stereotypes to give a full view of their characters. I think the book actually did the opposite, used the sterotypes to pick them apart and expose the real people underneath. The part where he writes what he's thinking is probably the most impressive part. It does go against Islamic traditions, but I am still very impressed with this book. It's a good story, although it does show islam in a negative way.
Awesome!

This is probably one of the best !@#$% & $ books I've read in a long time. Great characters, a great plot, everything about this makes this book one of the best books I've read in a decade. It has a lot to say about conflict in general, not only in the Middle East, but here in the West as well. I couldn't put it down.
