The recommended first step as a solver is to look for every instance of these in the grid, and write them in. These will help start your solving process. In those instances many solvers look for the number that occurs the most time, in the knowledge that this is often the E, and if not then very often it is either T or A, the other two most common letters in English.

You may also want to look for unusual patterns - for instance where a number appears several times within a placement this usually narrows down the options quite heavily. There are many other solving methods that you will discover as you solve codewords and become more experienced at tackling the challenge they present.
