This sequel to 'The Hybrid' takes some unpredictable turns as it intersects with the 'Time Hero Chronicles' (Time Loves a Hero, The Legacy, and Zarnian Buddhism). The story begins with the introduction of Kara-kin, an extraterrestrial "Gray'' and creator of hybrids, who provides a glimpse of human beings from the perspective of one of these near-mythical beings from another star system. The story continues with the characters from the previous book, The Hybrid, meeting another human/ET hybrid who offers them a very unusual opportunity. As with the first Hybrid story, this tale explores some daunting serious contemporary human social issues against the backdrop of a fantastical tale of aliens, Flying Saucers, and human-ET Hybrids. The story unfolds as group of scientists and enlightened human beings seek to survive a looming global collapse of human society generated by a surge in authoritarian chaos and natural disasters. The tale spans hundreds of years in order to offer the reader one possible version of a future where humanity struggles as a species to survive an apocalypse largely of their own making.

This book is also the prequel to 'Time Loves a Hero', providing the backstory of how the Zarnians came to be.
