The Hunter's Paradox (The Hunter's Lore)

This is the first entry in the Hunter's Lore. On the Victorian-era world of Plataea, humanity fought a seemingly hopeless battle against monsters that ravaged the planet. From hairy and rabid trolls that would tear humans to shreds, to enormous dragons that would burn entire villages, to giant sea leviathans that sink countless warships; humanity was brought to the edge of extinction. The militias lost thousands to the hordes of beasts, without mercy. Then, out of the shadows arose the Order of the Arcane Hunt. Donned in their signature duster long coats, wide-brimmed hats and highly trained in the arcane arts and firearms of the time, the hunters became the greatest threat to the beasts they preyed on. Over time, the war turned into a stalemate and promptly ended with only cities and small villages of humans surviving. Now, over a hundred years later, Eric Hahn has become a new hunter and is placed in the Pratertown Chapter of the Order. Even though the Order had become an overwatching and somewhat dark regime for humanity, Eric has sworn to protect the innocent from all threats. On the other side exists Celestial; a seraph and angel-like, yet deadly creature. She has grown up knowing nothing but the horrors she and her family have experienced at the hands of humans. While on a mission to battle a rising threat from a powerful cult, Eric will meet Celestial. It is this meeting of the hunter and beast that will challenge everything they had known about the other's kind.
