A young Gypsy girl is born on a wagon train during the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Empire of Emperor Franz Joseph. She marries into nobility but is cast out on the death of her husband. She immigrates to America to escape retribution because of her Gypsy status and her Gypsy powers. Her son joins her to escape World War I and becomes a Western Pennsylvania coal miner. His mother's powers are an integral aspect of the lives whom this Gypsy and her son touches, both before and after her death.
