Don't miss the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling, addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that's burning up Instagram and TikTok--Freida McFadden's The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity.

Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But she soon finds out ... and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late.

But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don't know who I really am.

They don't know what I'm capable of ...

Customer Reviews

Great building up of the story.

This is the first novel by Freida McFadden that I've read and I enjoyed it. Although the start of the story was a little slow, the plot ramped up and kept me wanting to continue reading. At times, I found myself cheering the underdog. I'm excited to read her other novels.

Couldn’t put it down

Twists, shocks, and the best story I read in record time in a long while.

Excellent read!

2/18/26 - 2/23/26 The Housemaid (The Housemaid #2) by Freida McCann The first book in the four book series! Oh my goodness! What a book! I didn’t see the twist coming and the turn coming either! Wow! What a book! What a novel! I was totally blown away! If I didn’t have responsibilities I think I would have read this continuously non-stop! The storyline was thriller perfect and diabolical-do people really think and act like this? Probably in a narcissistic and mental health out of this world state they do! I just cannot phantom it and I thought my family life had been dysfunctional- not even close after reading this! If you enjoy thriller and twists and turns I highly recommend this read.

Loved it!

Thrilling and an easy read! Definitely recommend. Couldn’t put it down!
