Compelling, powerful

I don't know if you remember me, but I wrote about your garden in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine several years ago... Last night I finished [reading the book] and was very moved by the intimacy of your writing. I am 44 years old and am currently going through divorce. There were passages in your book that were so closely related to what I have been going through, that I was compelled to continue reading. I was encouraged by your desire and fortitude to press on. And I was especially impressed by your need to show your children that what you make of yourself truly is a gift to them. I am grateful every day for the women in my life, and it is in their open arms that I find the strength to get through the rough days. I am sure your story will have the same effect on any woman who picks it up and reads it. Thank you for opening yourself up and not being afraid to embrace who you are. Warmly, Nancy Christensen

Spiritual connection

Thank you for honestly and openly sharing some of your deepest felt, most secret feelings about your success and struggles on your journey of creating your book, The House of Many Faces. You asked for my opinion of your book. I loved your book. You have powerfully written a book that articulates the pain many people have experienced. Everyone's pain takes different forms, yet our journey to self acceptance and healing comes through finding our personal strength within ourselves. I call this my connection to Life. Everyone defines their connection in their own way. We all use different dressings on the salad of Life... Blessings, Barry

Unique and Interesting

I found this book to be a uniquely honest story of a powerful personal experience, shared with the reader in an unusual third person, metaphor based style. Even the format and layout of the book (two-up pages, interspersed wisdoms, font choice, etc.) appears to have been carefully thought out to best convey the deeply initimate story. The book reminded me of a written example of the cathartic release that other artists might find in painting a picture or writing a song as part of a moving personal experience. For me, the story was not accusatory, but observational; a story of 'heres what happened to me' from her own point of view. It left me with much to think about, not only from the perspective of the womens role as told in the story, but of the other roles that made up the interconnected relationships of the extended families in her life.

Men Can Learn From This Talented Woman's Story

I won this book at an agent friend's book event and wished I'd won something a little more male-oriented. Then my wife picked it up and couldn't put it down until she finished it. "You might want to read this," she suggested. So I did. It's an incredibly frank and honest personal memoir that sometimes made me feel a little uncomfortable about how I'd treated the women in my life, two of whom I married. But I also felt very good about having handled many situations better than they were handled by the male in this book. A little guilt? Yes, but some valuable lessons, too.I'm glad I met this author and read her work. She's very good, and maybe she's taught me some things.

A personal testimony of a woman's survival

The House Of Many Faces is a personal testimony of a woman's survival and escape from sexism, materialism, and societal traps by seeking vision, empowerment, and personal validation within her own home. Room by room, metaphors offer guidance into the nature of the world itself, from inexorable advance of Daughter Truth and Father Time (who also represents death) to bare feet as a connection to the real world and not an illusory one. The text is presented in two columns per page, offering a distinctive reading experience as one follows the woman's journey from room to room, contemplating each item in the house. A poignant and profound masterpiece of literary allegory.
