The Horse-Tamer

This was another good book in the BS series. It is one of the few later books that I liked. Since it goes back in time, it was a little different, and I didn't expect illustrations (which I liked), but overall it was a good book.

An enchanting prequel of the black stallion

I loved this book. I think about it on trail rides when I'm riding the stallion my friend owns and whenever I ride young horses. This book has a very clear message at the end : Those who are wild at heart will remain wild forevermore.I reccomend this book to all horse lovers who enjoy reading exciting books that will put you in the edge of your seat!

My favorite Black Stallion book

I read the Black Stallion first when I was seven and since then many many times. But I must say that from Black Stallion series, this was the book that I re-read the most. I find myself remembering the book often, like whenever I tie a rough rope halter or soothe a rebellious young horse. Of all of Walter Farley's books this is the most honestly horsey and the wisest. It encourages the young horse person to approach their steed with gentleness and understanding. It can even teach some of the humane techniques used by trainers and "horse whisperers." Although it is a prequel to the first BS book, it could really stand alone. If you have enjoyed Black Beauty or King of the Wind this should top your list of must reads, having much the same flavor and social agenda.
