Spirit Prayer for all God's people

The book reveals how believers may get involved in praying in the Spirit. Glossalalia(tounges)comes subsequent to the conversion experience, but should come soon after. Some have prayed and waited so long they have given up for they did not know how to engage. The book is an encourager. It shows how one can enter into this marvelous prayer dimension and receive phenomenal answers to prayer.

A Unique Look at the Baptism of the Spirit and Tongues

Stanford Linzey is a delightful and zealous follower of Christ who reports having led nearly 20,000 people into the experience of speaking in other tongues. As such his book "The Holy Spirit in the Third Millennium" was of great interest to me. The book is not primarily a study of the person and the work of the Holy Spirit. Rather the focus is on the subjects of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and glossalia (speaking in other tongues). Linzey argues that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at salvation and it is not an event subsequent to salvation. He sees the gift of tongues as a manifestation any believer can release by faith. I found the greatest value of the book was in his explanation of how he leads people into an experience of "manifesting the Spirit" (speaking in tongues). Regardless of your understanding of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, Linzey gives some valuable practical direction for Pentecostals and Charismatics desiring to lead people into receiving or "manifesting" the Holy Spirit. Though I do not agree with his understanding of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, I did find his explanation interesting. The book was easy to read and Linzey's insights are worth considering.

Great Reading and Instructionally Sound

This is an excellent book for those who have questions about the doctrine of the Holy Spirit Baptism and speeking in tongues. His keen insight reveals more than the normal intellectual approach, and is able to be appreciated by those of all Christian backgrounds. Truly a magnus effort!

What every Christian needs to know

Immediately one knows that this is a unique and informative reading for serious Christians to help bridge the gap for the third millenium population who are maturing to age spiritually. It gives one the feeling that experience is talking and putting its finger on the problems that misunderstanding, bias, and mixed up concepts engender among those who need to rethink the modern theological doctrine in the way God's Spirit enters as He activates human spirits. Dr. Linzey has a pleasing, serious, and knowledgeable style that makes difficult ideas comprehensible and compelling. Nearly every question one may ask has an answer based on practical experience and testified to by the thousands of people he has touched for Christ in his unique way. For an enjoyable three hours of time well spent it is an exceptional and profitable investment.
