Elara uncovers the hidden journals of the heretic Maester Odo, learns that the palace was never merely a seat of rule but a nursery, and realizes the true obscenity of the pact: she is not meant to be sacrificed, but enthroned as the Mother of the Murk, the human-centered mind through which the Hollow Croak will birth a new wet order into the surface world. The Hollow Croak is a bleak gothic body-horror fantasy about dynastic bargains, ecological conversion, bodily invasion, and the terror of discovering that the future being built around you is not your prison alone, but your kingdom.
