The Clearwater Beach Hotel was one of the first buildings on Clearwater Beach, Florida. It started as a cottage built in 1905 by Edwin Timanus Roux for his family. Since many guests visited the family, Roux added more rooms until it became a boardinghouse and later a hotel. Eventually, apartments and cottages were built next to the hotel. The hotel became run down and needed continuous repairs. Clearwater Beach was changing to condos and fancier places to stay. The Clearwater Beach Hotel started to show its age. In 2004, the hotel was sold, torn down, and replaced by the Sandpearl Resort. The story of this popular hotel and its many owners is written as a tribute to those who came year after year and spent many important family celebrations at the hotel. This story pays homage to an important part of Clearwater Beach.
