The History Box...Our Father's Diary: "Looking in his mirror"

World War II was a tumultuous time and Frank Browne served honorably in the United States Army during the European conflict. He received many letters from his sister Mary Carter, brother Henry Pettis, and young daughter, Maxine. These letters appeared to keep his spirits up in the face of danger and the loneliness of being far from home in a raging war. Some of those letters are in the history box discovered by my brother Francis Gene "Frank" Browne. The history box also contained some questionable items such as a "love note" from a former husband to my brother's mother Frieda Browne, and photos torn in half. We will never know why the photos were torn in half or who actually tore them. Newspaper articles in the box also indicated that our father was very troubled for a time. Thus, the history box is also a mystery box.
