From the very first reading of "The Hippocratic Generation" you will be convinced that the tendencies described by medical workers on both sides who have taken an oath on the person of Hippocrates contrast with their treatment of thepoor populations without financial means, yet drawn from my personal observations.If we follow the Lega wisdom, we can come to understand the content of this book, and I quote: "Little dirt together makes a big dirt, and united hands make a garment for the lower abdomen" (Tumbitumbi u busa / nu maboko u nsulu za bwela). This Lega proverb simply encourages partnership between men. According to Lega wisdom, it's only by joining forces with others that a man emerges from his poverty, for "Hands serve as a cover for nakedness" (Maboko / u nsulu za bwela), in other words, a man gets by as best he can, by his own means.
