Hippo has many friends around the watering hole, until one day they all vanish. Hippo tries to work out why they have left, and through this Hippo realises a simple mistake they have all made. Throughout the story there are colourful exclusive pictures to compliment each character, which are interesting for young children. It can also apply to older children because it has an educational value that stereotyping can lead to exclusion. 'The Hippo and the Crocodile' is a story for children that is not only entertaining, but also teaches a valuable life lesson. It would be suitable from reading to children as fun, to introducing it into educational establishments.
