The Hidden Beaver Pond: The River Runner Series Book 2: A Boy, a River and a Trapline
The Hidden Beaver Pond
October, 1983.
Fourteen-year-old Jesse Calloway thought he knew every bend of the river. Then he and his best friend, Tommy Anderson, stumble across something few people have ever seen... a forgotten beaver pond hidden deep within Michigan's cedar swamps.
To most people, it's just another patch of wilderness.
To Jesse, it's the trapline of a lifetime.
As the boys learn to read sign, set traps, paddle flooded rivers, and work from before daylight until after dark, they discover that success in the outdoors isn't measured by fur alone. It's earned through patience, hard work, good judgment, and respect for the wild places that have changed little for generations.
But when rising water, unpredictable weather, and an unexpected visit from a conservation officer threaten everything they've built, Jesse learns that every decision carries consequences.
Rich with authentic trapping, unforgettable wilderness, and the timeless bond between friends, The Hidden Beaver Pond is a coming-of-age adventure that celebrates self-reliance, tradition, and the outdoors.
Perfect for readers who love Where the Red Fern Grows, My Side of the Mountain, and classic outdoor adventures.
Some secrets are worth finding. Others must be earned.
Deep in Michigan's wilderness, two boys discover a forgotten beaver pond that will test their courage, patience, and character.
