neophyte reviewer, enjoyed anti-hero protagonists in this n

I enjoyed the anti-hero protagonists of this novel which resembled early Lecarre i,e. The spy who came in from the cold , in many ways. A grim , thankless job with no future and a lousy retirement plan sums up the end of this spy's carreer with alcoholism as an extra benefit. Good thing the cold war was about to make him redundant- or is that just the beginning rather than the end of his problems? Worth reading as an antidote for the "good-bad guy" spies.
