The author takes us back to a time in the deep South in the 60's of the US when wives stayed home and had lunches and afternoon card parties. The maids they employ to clean and maintain their homes as well as cook their food are abused and set up to fail and often don't get paid what they are worth. We see their network of friends and lives of both maids/employers. Sadly, the children they cared for make your heart strings tug as they love their nannies. There are many funny moments as well as a few sad moments in the movie and a great revenge ending. Well worth a look a time or two. I like the couple who involve their maid in their lives after she helps teach a young debutante who is clueless how to manage and cook and recover from recurring miscarriages.
