As a Chicago broadcaster myself for 45 years, I thoroughly enjoyed Art's unalloyed reminiscences. He reminded me of many shared colleagues and friends, and in the course of recounting his harlequin life and career, paints an accurate, incisive and funny picture of the Chicago broadcasting scene in the last half of the 20th century.

I really loved this book. As a radio fan of many years - I now listen seven days a week - The Hellyer Say gave me a new appreciation for the medium. And what a career! I was born and lived in Chicago for a number of years and must have in my memory the sound of Art Hellyer's voice ringing in my ears. I certainly hope so! His humor and intelligence are heart-warming. Reading his book was an enjoyable travel back in time.

I have to confess, I had never heard of Art Hellyer. Apparently, he was a very well known radio personality in Chicago. I got this book on a whim, after seeing the endorsement from Studs Terkel. The book is a collection of essays by Mr. Hellyer, detailing his 60 years in radio. He tells his tales with so much affection, you can't help but wish you had been there to listen to these shows yourself. His love of the medium comes across in every word. I have read Larry King and Art Bell's books about their career's in broadcasting. I loved those books, and I would put Art Hellyers book right up there with those!
Great!
