Everyone knows that your "network" is a large differentiator from your peers in the competitive landscape of the working world. The "network" does not just pertain to the sales world. And, Ricky describes the networking effort and experience very well. I learned a lot. "You see," Steele explains, "a successful networker understands and believes that his or her first mission has nothing to do with selling anything to anybody. The mission of networking is to build relationships, which may or may not lead directly to business one day."
The Heart of Networking

This book definitely proves the theory that you should never judge a book by its cover. It may not have the most engaging cover, but it turned out to be one of the most detailed books on networking that i've read. It breaks down the real process, the true heart of networking. A number of books i've read focus on techniques, but this really focuses on the heart; the issue of motive. After reading this book, i put into practice a number of things Ricky suggested in the book. I joined my local chamber of commerce, got active and was focused on just giving and helping. I must say that the rewards, have been immense, more than i could ever imagine. Best part of it all? The satisfaction of knowing i honestly did not seek the rewards, and was just focused on giving. The Heart of Networking is all about real relationships and real service.
