The Healer's Museum

Beau Livingston is one Federal bureaucrat who won't be leaving work early on Friday. His routine field trip turns into adventure when the workboat Faultless runs aground and leaves him stranded on a barrier island off the coast of Texas. There, he and the boat's captain spend the night with strangers who become more so as the night wears on. At least illness isn't a worry. One of the inhabitants of the island is a healer. Harlan Trahan has been called by destiny to help others but finds the process a daunting imposition. His anger with and suspicion of the power to heal reaches a dangerous climax within the museum built by his own hands. Three other visitors who have benefited from Harlan's healing powers are lying low at the island compound. Awaiting an unscheduled flight home under the radar, they and their plans are tested by the weather, as is a nearby dredged material disposal area which, true to bad luck, fails under heavy rainfall. The resulting death and enlightenment bring together a band of misfits who can accomplish more together than at odds, even though odd is their best fit.
