Are we hapless victims of life's whims? Are we driven along by some blind and impersonal force? Are we battered by circumstances beyond all control?A thousand times, "No " says pastor and author... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Alistair Begg, in his usual manner, unfolds many deep truths from the Scriptures to encourage a meaningful Christian walk. Drawing from the Old Testament account of the life of Joseph, Begg guides the reader to identify with Joseph and to learn from his example of how to deal with difficult circumstances when life does not go as expected. Begg's style is easy-to-read, and the chapters are divided into small segments that make it convenient to read short segments at a time, thus supplying food for thought for hours after reading.

This book has a lot of wisdom for the beginner as well as the learned Christian. But if you just scan through it as a novel, you will miss some great truth from the messages it portrays in the way it is written. Then again, to get anything out of any book, we have to analyze the meaning of what the writer is trying to teach us. That being said think about it and learn. God bless you all, Arlie
Wonderfully Inspiring

As a father and husband in my 30's, I have little free time. Yet this book captured my attention. It is a tremendous bible study to accompany the Book of Genesis and it is a great guide for those facing adverse times in life. The author perfectly illustrates how Joseph transformed the challenges and dissappointments in his life into opportunities to praise God.

The story of Joseph is well known. What is not well understood is how God was directing Joseph in every circumstance of his life. The way Alistair presents the story of Joseph, will let you see in your own life how God is also in control of ALL of your life's circumstances too.You will see your life and your future from a more relax perspective once you realize and understand that God is in control making the decisions that are best suited for you. I truly recommend this book for anyone interested in finding God's providence in his/her life.
We Just THINK We Have Problems

To be honest, when our assistant pastor announced that our study group was going to use this book, I didn't think that the book had much to offer me. I was VERY wrong! Alistair Begg does a wonderful job of telling the story of Joseph, Jacob's favorite son. (Anyone thinking that today's families are all mixed up should see how Jacob's family beats anything we hear about in our day.) Many of us have been through hard times, but I doubt any of us have experienced the hardships that Joseph dealt with. Every chapter is full of lessons for our lives, no matter what problems we are struggling with. Begg's writing is clear and easy to read, yet very convicting. Highly recommended!
