The Halloween House Tour

By Lisa Talcott

Bellwether House was never meant to become the final stop on Ashcombe Vale's Halloween tour. Clara Vale has approved the route, locked the forbidden rooms, and prepared the old library house for one harmless night of lanterns, pumpkins, cider, and carefully managed local legend. Then the printed programs list a room Clara never opened: the Blue Door Room, a place tied to a Halloween tour in 1936 and a child whose name was scratched out of the record.

When a trustee is found dead inside the forbidden room, the evening becomes more than a seasonal fundraiser. Someone has used the tour, the old house, and Bellwether's buried history to stage a murder. As Clara follows the altered route, the missing guest list, the old blue tickets, and the house's own unnerving corrections, she must uncover what happened on Halloween night decades ago before another name is erased for good.
