A helpful book to work on landscape skills in both watercolor and oil

Although the book is called the “half hour painter” the majority of the paintings presented took the author more than 30 minutes. I don’t know why they called it the half hour painter. In addition, I believe most of these paintings would take the average painter closer to an hour or more to complete. Just my opinion. But if you are looking for paintings to be completed 30 minutes or less, I would suggest you look elsewhere. The author gives excellent ideas for plein air (outdoor) paintings and the materials one needs to take with them. I also enjoyed the way the author helps one know how to simplify a painting that would allow someone to create a painting in less than an hour. The majority of the subjects in this book is landscapes. I found it to be a great help for me and my wish to be able to paint on vacation in a sketchbook. It is my opinion that this book is appropriate for beginners with some experience and intermediate painters who want to simplify their paintings.
