The Guide to Heart Sounds: Normal and Abnormal is a combination audiocassette with a pocket-size workbook. Its objective is to en-able the student or practitioner to learn the skill of heart sound in-terpretation as rapidly and effectively as possible. The user may enter the program at any level of competence and be guided to the level of sophistication of heart sound interpretation that is needed. Three levels are offered: absolute beginner; beginner with some ba-sic understanding of heart sounds; and practitioner or lecturer, for purposes of personal review or classroom demonstration. The tape is designed for use both in the student's personal portable cassette player and for institutional playback machines. It is also designed for rapid access to the different levels of learner sophistication. Each section of the tape advances in degree of complexity, allow-ing the user to choose or go back to the needed start point.
