Not one likable character

Of all the characters, only the hostess seemed to have any redeemable characteristics. At the end, you understand why they are messed up, but one spends most of the book disliking or having little connection with the characters.

Beware of abandoned islands ... and weddings!

Having just finished this unusual (in a good way) book, I feel a bit shell-shocked by all of the coincidences at the heart of the story. But I guess that was the point. The characters aren't particularly likeable, and the start was formulaic, yet I recommend "The Guest List" to those who love a mystery. I'll definitely read this one again ... "knowing what I know" ... and enjoy it on a different level. The narration occurs from five viewpoints and multiple time-frames, which enhances the whodunnitness (yes, I know that's not a word, but nothing else would do). I look forward to more Foley.

It was a fine book.

It was good but the ending felt a bit rushed.

Couldn’t put it down

To the point, kept you on the edge of your seat right up to the very end!

Kept me guessing

I couldn’t kept myself from not reading. It has a unique setting and a group of characters that have connections with each other that you think would never happen.

Kept me guessing til the very end.

Excellent murder mystery! Full character development with twists and turns. Never imagined the ending. I love it when I am surprised by a books ending when its a mystery.

Scandalous

So many secrets and twisted outcomes. Hate the characters but love the story, you’ll understand when you read it!

Characters you love to hate

A fun read, sometime predictable, but a decent who dunnit

The Guest List: Who Could It Be?

Written like a more classic murder mystery, The Guest List keeps you wondering up until the last second. The characters weren’t exactly likable, but that’s what drew me in even further and, as Foley explains, in her afterword was exactly her intention. Some of the more repetitive moments could have been forgone, but overall this was a very good read.

Really liked it. Didn’t love it.

The book to me had a really slow start and the writing style took some serious getting used to; I wanted to put it down a few times but something kept me reading. Once things started falling into place though, I was enthralled. My kind raced and I finished the last hundred pages in one night. Highly recommend.

I couldn't put it down!

This book is the best book I have read... Maybe ever.. I hate to say that and get your expectations too high... But I've read 8 books this past month. All mystery thrillers and this one blew all the others out of the water.
