The story follows a family of owls living in a forest, with each member possessing unique personality traits and roles within the community. The father, Aegolius, is a wise and responsible guardian, while the mother, Athena, is a kind and knowledgeable teacher. The three children, Orion, Apollo, and Aurora, have distinct personalities - Orion is studious and intellectual, Apollo is energetic and adventurous, and Aurora is curious and observant.
When the father announces his plans to step down as the guardian of the forest, the siblings must decide who will take his place. Orion volunteers and must prove himself worthy of the role by facing challenges and criticism from other animals, including the skeptical fox Fenris. Through determination and fair leadership, Orion earns the respect and trust of the forest community and becomes a successful guardian.
