It begins in Tennessee with Auntie Grizz knocking out a toddler's teeth with a 2-wood and races past Hogan in Texas, to Bavaria, California and Georgia. Growing up military in the 60s, on a Special Forces base in Bavaria, Willy then suffers through California in the volatile year 1968, before traveling through a series of golf courses on a hallucinogenic search for the secret of golf. Willy perpetrates cruel pranks upon hapless night watermen, cart boys and golf pros until the tale ends with the dream realized, as he builds the ideal neo-classic golf course, Rockbottum Country Club.
