The town's transformation is an allegorical tale of how America itself has lost its innocence as viewed by young Mikey who, along with the help of some of the town's people who refuse to succumb to the Green Palm Way, stands by the notions of liberty and justice for all and resists the encroaching forces of human nature that threatens the very foundations of humanity and American ideals.
