Masterpiece: Some parts dated but other parts predicted today's headlines

When this book originally came out, many of the predictions sounded outlandish. A perfect example was "Islam will replace Marxism as the main ideology of confrontation." This sounded ludicrous at the time (1991), but as we know, this could not have been any more prescient. The reason I call this book a masterpiece though is not simply because many of the predictions came true in the intervening years, but the method they used to make these predictions, what they called Megapolitics, is a still incredibly helpful way of viewing the world. On the negative side, some of the predictions they made turned out to be dead wrong such as "huge numbers of government employess will be fired". However, this prediction and others like it were based on their conclusion that the U.S. would suffer a major Depression in the 90s where ""the value of the average private home will drop by two-thirds". Although this didn't happen in the '90s, it certainly doesn't seem completely far-fetched today. I re-read this book recently and was again astounded that many of their descriptions of the deflation and the financial tsunami that would roil the financial markets could have been taken from today's headlines. They may have gotten some of the '90s wrong, but they got many things right and the balance of their predictions may still prove to have been as prescient as their view on Islam and Marxism.
