A wise, witty novel posing this question: Can a young man find love and fulfillment in a home for retarded adults? This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book was given to me by a friend, and I started it out of obligation to the friend. However, I soon became engossed by the story itself. The characters come alive and the story is very heartwarming and compassionate. Funny as well. I would recommend this book! My only negative comment is that at times the historical material (flashbacks to the earlier generation) did not immediately seem relevant to the ongoing story, or went on a bit too long, and I kept wanting to get back to the current happenings. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this book, and I am interested in looking for Borsten's later work.
Amazing! Touching!

I couldn't believe that this was Rick Borsten's first book! It is so amazing! The personalities of the characters are so real. Benny (the main character) is a real joy as are the mentally retarded adults whom he cares for. "Care" is the key word here. This book is a keeper to be passed on to friends, relatives, whomever!
